It has been a very nice two weeks.
But looking back, that's more like 3 weeks and a half. Anyway, it's been nice enough for me to loose my sence of time.
I did get bored the very next day after my last exams. So I turned the tv on, and ended up watching Mythbusters on Discorery. It's incredibly fun, enough to make science fun again, but not enough for me to doubt my studies change. It's just great to watch stuff being blown up.
I took exactly 7 days off, only checking the wanted ads on the web, and on the 8th day of my summer vacation, on saturday, I sent a resume by email, not really thinking it would get me anywhere since I really think employers need to see would-be employees before even considering them. I added Translation to my resume as my field of study, and also added my Japanese class I'm working on.
Monday morning, I got a call form the store asking me to come down for an interview.
Tuesday, I went to my interview, and 15 minutes later, I was hired!
After the difficulties I had last summer to get a job, this was simply too easy.
I started this week, with some formation and getting to know the stocks, and I'm part time until mid-june, then I'm going full time. It's a great place selling christmas stuff, so we get mostly tourists, so I can practice my spoken English, and they're always happy and nice. And I'm scared sh*tless I'll get laidoff for some reason, but I'm just taking things as they come for now. I have a job, and that's good enough for now.
On Monday, I had two exams at university to pass in order to officially get into the translation program. The first one was a translation exam : read a text in French, answer questions in English, read a text in English, anwers question in French. Simple enough, but the scary part (for myself anyway) in grammar. I'm pretty confident when writting in English, I make few mistakes. But in french, I have to be carefull. And the exam was only an hour long, so no time to reread and correct. I have no idea what I'll do if I don't pass this and can't get into the program. Die probably.
The second exam was to prove I read and understand English. It was silly, really. Like an exam I would have taken in grade five or something. But everyone at university has to take this. The grade decides in which English class level you'll be placed, or if you're alowed to just skip it.
I'm back into a Japanese kick. I watched My Neighbor Totoro tuesday. I had downloaded it while still in school, but never got around to actually watching the thing. Now, why did I download it instead of buying it like a good lil otaku junkie? Because Disney was suppose to release it, in a 2 DVDs version too, last March, and ordered it back then. But it seems it was never released. So my order still stands, and I'll by it when it does come out, but for now, this badly subbed version was good enough.
I bought Kiki's Delivery Service today, kinda sad there's no French track on there, I can't force my mother to watch it, but I'm impatient to watch it. And I found CLAMPs Anthology magazines at the comic store, in French with these so kawaii checker pieces. Now I'll have to buy all 12 numbers to complete the game.
I'm gonna watch Kiki now, those DVDs are expensive enough to have fun with them.
